Posters, Playbills, and Placemats
Here are a few posters, playbills, and a placemat, from our archives. Canada has produced a rich storehouse of images associated with adaptations of the Bard. Witty, erotic, transgressive, and quotidian, the following small sampling of images used to advertise adaptations suggests an entirely other mode of adaptation via visual culture and the "play" therein. CASP notes the extent to which body images play a significant role in many of these images.
