Adaptor 1 Biography
"Writer, filmmaker, director, or drag queen extraordinaire...Sky Gilbert is one of Canada's most controversial artistic forces. In his earlier years (as Artistic Director of Buddies in Bad Times theatre from 1979-1997) his work was mainly theatrical. His hit plays Drag Queens on Trial and Drag Queens in Outer Space were produced in New York City, Chicago, San Francisco, Houston, Phoenix, Vancouver, Toronto, Montreal, Washington D.C., and London, England. For the Shaw Festival Mr. Gilbert directed Anything Goes and Wilde's Salome in 1987. Recently, Sky has seen his non-theatrical writing (novels and poetry) burst into print. And his first feature film My Summer Vacation was released (through Waterbearer Films) to video stores in the USA and Canada in fall 1999" (from 28 Aug. 2003. http://www.puc.ca/cgi-bin/puc/catalogue.cgi?function=detail&Authors_uid=126).

Synopsis
"In Ten Ruminations on an Elegy Attributed to William Shakespeare, Sky Gilbert continues his exploration of artists and writers who were (or might have been) gay questioning the relation their sexuality may have had to their work, and its relevance to us today. Is any artist's sexuality relevant to how we look at their work? If not, why do so many academics get so worked up at the suggestion that Shakespeare may have had at least one gay relationship?" (qtd. from "See it before the Queen!" Press Release 1996).
